The works presented are based on photographs captured by the artist in Mexico City. The formal language of architect Luis Barragán, whose aesthetic combines vernacular and modern style, is recognizable therein. Dorion’s paintings are imbued with the vivid colours and minimal lines of the mythical places they represent, revealed in fragments (the Casa Gilardi and the Hotel Camino Real, among others).
Blouin Division is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by Pierre Dorion. In Dorion's recent paintings, one finds the technical virtuosity the artist is known for in compositions where photography and painting are in dialogue, oscillating between abstraction and figuration.
